Ok I just got back in from shooting my new FR-8, shes a blast! I was expecting heavy kick but it was fine...no worse than an M44. But I was reading some stuff on the web and there seems to be something about it not being safe to shoot .308 nato in them...this has me a bit concerned...I dont particularly want to have my new favorite rifle blow up in my face...anyone offer me any advice or can they disspell this rumor?

1. These rifles were chambered specifically for NATO rounds. I dont see a problem. Maybe Shultzeman or Redstar can add to this but I fired .308 in mine and she ate em up. You are right a beautiful rifle. Lettle kick.;)
It's commercial .308 that people are concerned with.
I've personally shot both commercial .308 and surplus 7.62X51.
No problems yet.
Still a fun rifle to shoot. But like most bolt actions a pain for me to shoot quickly(right handed and left eye dominant so I shoot left handed).

I wouldn't sweat it..the FR8 is a three lug bolt and the two lug bolt on 1916's has been tested to destruction at almost twice .308 pressures....If you want the article posted again either search or contact me....In fact Redstar and Zouave might have it too....
