What Assault Rifle case does everybody recomend, If any ? I found a Federal Caseworks assault case but they didn't have one in a size 42". Any Online sites I should check out for a decent case for my AK-47 ( SA-M7). Thanks
I have [3]...[1] Mil-Tech and [2] Ace; I bought the Ace bags at a gun show for *cheap*...otherwise I would have purchased the Mil-Tech brand.
All three are decent but the Mil-Tech has a better shoulder strap. The zip pouch forward of the mag pouches comes in handy for range cards and other stuff. IMHO
You can actually fit [2] AR mags in each pouch but not AK 7.62 mags...they are a bit thicker.

Got 2 Galati and 3 King cases. The King cases are heavy duty and the Galati cases are real heavy duty. The padding on the Galati is really thick.

There is no other rifle case for the AK or AR IMO, than this one:

BACK IN STOCK! From Izhevsk, Russia, these Kalashnikov assault rifle cases were designed for use by MVD forces, and come in MVD Taiga (shown), Summer Taiga (lighter), or black nylon. Features include extra thick foam padding and external flap covered, Velcro secured pockets for five 30-round AK-74 (or M16) magazines. There is also an external pocket for carrying a service pistol, optics, ammunition, or other accessories. Rifle will fit with either magazine attached, or optics mounted. The overall length is about 40 inches, just right for many of the most popular assault rifles. These have both an adjustable, padded shoulder strap and handles. These cases are visually outstanding, very well made, and will protect your valuable firearms. Limited quantities.
Here's the link to buy them:

Ah, now that is a nice bag for the AK. One of the problems I recognize with my assault bags is that they are not really *thick* enough to properly accomodate the width of the AK plus the bolt handle. This tends to crowd the magazines when loaded into the mag pouches. The Izhevsk bag looks *thicker*...seems generous in the use of materials; looks like it was built specificaly for the AK. Other bags seem to be based upon AR dimensions...very nice indeed.

I agree w/Herrdoktor. I have one of those cases from Tantal and love it. I've got other cases that are okay and work fine but I'll eventually replace them w/Tantal's cases.

I have the Ace Case #42, and it's the perfect size for an AK and 1 mag inside plus pockets for 4 mags outside. I bought it at the gun show a few years back. But after seeing the bag posted by 308, I may be buying that bag very soon:) I like the Ace Case, but that bag looks to be just perfect.

I purchased the Galiti 42" case with 5 mag pouches, also has a removeable shoulder strap. It is very well made and handles my SAm-7 Ak with mounted scope. Mag pouches are a little on the small side. My 20 rnd Hungarian mags fit perfectly, I think any 30 rnd mag would be too big.
I had already placed an order for the Galiti, or I probably would have ordered the Ak case from Tantal.

I have one of Tantals cases and its the nicest I have ever seen!
You wont find any cheap plastic parts on these cases. All hardware is made of chrome plated steel.
The Russian quality really supprised me.
They are built for abuse and will last a lifetime.

Thanks herrtorcheuetzengruvin,
I got my case from Tantals today after looking at the info (thanks 308also) posted here and I agree with you Tomac, and Fargo this case is nice. I have had an Ace (great case for the mini) and will get a Galiti for my AR (with the baby alagator label) but this case was exactly what I was looking to put the AK in, it fits my sar 1 and still has room for vodka
P.S. I e-mailed Tantal, got a reply 2 hours later (10:30PM Thursday night) with the order info, and placed an order Friday morning using paypal I received my case today Monday!!! That's great service in my book
Ditto on the cases from Tantal, very nice stuff. I paypal-ed him and got a summer Taiga and regular Taiga case 3 days later(last Friday).

I recently bought one of Tantal's SVD cases for my Saiga .308 and while it's a bit long for the Saiga (NP, I knew it would be) the case itself is excellent, a perfect match for the AK case I purchased from him earlier.

I wish they made shot cases that didn't look like gun cases....
