I have a freind that has an NHM91 and he is having a very high rate of missfires 1 out of 10 shots. Is there any common weak links?

I noticed on the ammo that didnt fire it apears that the primer wasn't struck as hard(wasnt indented as far)as the ones that fired.

The gun is very clean and apears to be well maintained.

The ammo he is using is russain hollow point (non corrosive)

Dose he need a new firing pin,Is there oil where there shouldn't be,or bad ammo?

Any thought that I could pass on to him?

Thanks

He should check the lenght of his firing pin. I had a NHM-91(one of the last ones imported, serial# 93-xxxx) that I got brand new in the box and had to replace the firing pin. It was to short and caused miss fires. Got a pin out of MAK-90 parts kit and it soloved the problem.

Thanks for the help I think thats what he probably needs.

Is there one particular pin that would be better in the long run for his gun.

THANKs

I don't know about one being better than the other. The one I used out of the parts kit works fine . I haven't noticed any differences in the wear on pins in my egyptian, chinese, russian, bulgarian and romanian rifles.

Don't forget to check for a weak hammer spring too. I would try this first as it is the easiest thing to change.
