I just purchased a Norinco 84-S in .223 with a underfold stock. The stock has some vertical play. When fully extended and locked there ia about 3/8 inch upward and downward play. I have seen other rifles that are solid with no play. The entire stock assembly moves in the action. does any one know how to tighten this stock? It looks to me like a special tool is required to work on this stock. It looks like a special spanner wrench is required to remove the ring on the right side of the stock. Or is there another way to remove this stock? Any help on this would be appreciated.

Hi Dan,
I have a Norinco down folder in 7.62 that I bought in 1989 and it's stock has always been slightly loose from day one.
It bothered me at first but I learned to live with it. I have seen factory replacement folding stocks in Shotgun News from time to time so keep your eyes open and maybe put one aside for safe keeping, the inventory is running low. There is most likely a spanner but you might have to fly to Bejing to get it!
Take care, OUT

Hi Dan,
Today I was looking at TAPCO's web site and I saw that they had original down folding stocks for sale for $24.99.
I don't know if they have them in stock but you might want to give them a call and check into it. 1-800-554-1445 www.tapco.com
Under AK parts on the last page I think, they might even have that spanner wrench. Check it out!
