I bought this gun new. It has C.A.I.ST.A.VT stamped on the receiver where my others have the importers name. It has 12/96 on the bolt, cover, and receiver. The receiver also has 386 in a oblong circle next to the date. The reason why I am so curious about this gun is that it has the spring loaded firing pin in it? As I understand it this is an auto. bolt? Any thoughts guys? Why does it have this?

Century Arms International Saint Albens, Vermont is the importer. The 386 is the factory # in China.
It is not a auto bolt but a Polytech bolt as they had a spring loaded firing pin.
Is your gun marked MISR?

JA,
Couldn't find the marking MISR. What does this mean anyway? BTW Thanks with the other info.

MISR was the name of the gun that CAI imported with chinese parts on a maddi recevier. The receiver has painted black finsh not blued like chinese MAK-90. This gives the rifle a funny look as all other parts are blued. It was the last AK type rifle imported before the ban on high cap mag rifles.

MISR guns do have an odd look to the finish but overall I got to admit they arnt that bad a shooter. I purchased one a few months ago and it operates flawlessly and matched my Bulgarian SLR for accuracy all the way. Though they are terribly rust prone especially around the rear sight, front sight block, and barrel. And some of them have been known to have full auto bolts, though it depended on which parts bin they were built from. Last of the imported high cap AKs, sad but true.

A AK bolt is a bolt seni or full auto same bolt. But the bolt carrier is a different story. The semi carrier has the ear or what ever it's called ground off.
Jimbob+,Is this what you are refering to?

Ya sorry I tend to group the whole assembly together. Those MISR units were strange guns, I have seen them with egyptian and chinese bolts, the only thing consistent with them is the recievers to my knowledge were all maadis. But to your question I am refering to the bolt carrier and the one out of my MISR was identical to a full auto part I ordered as a spare. Completely. As I said strange guns......
