Does anyone know where I can purchase a complete bolt head assembly for my MAK-90 w/ejector,springs and pins. Will Eastern Bloc bolt heads fit on my Chinese bolt carrier or should I buy both the bolt head and bolt carrier. And if I purchase both will they fit the Norinco rifle. I'm a new "Gun toter", so expect more lame questions from me. Thanks to all.
Hello Nemesis,
I too have been looking for just a complete bolt but so far I have not had any luck.
I just bought a complete trigger group parts set from TAPCO and recommend everyone do the same. I think that TAPCO may sell a complete bolt along with the carrier and piston but I do not want the carrier and piston.
I feel that Eastern Block parts should work just fine, Try K-VAR in Las Vegas for those parts.
Enjoy and welcome to the great world of AK ownership. OUT

One day I did the switcharoo on bolts between a Chinese AK and a Hungarian AK, the bolts w/ firing pins were interchangeable. Some of the other parts are not however. I got a bump on my forehead a couple of days ago when I tryed to sight in a Polytech sidefolder with a scoped receiver cover(ribbed cover, hungarian or maadi) that carried a OEG site on it. It appeared to fit, but when I fired it, the cover flew off and the scope smacked me right between the eyes. I guess its staying on my SA-85!

Thanks for the follow ups. I'll check out Tapco. I'll let you know of any success. Do the ribbed reciever covers not work I was going to replace mine with one because the one I have is losing its finish. Sorry about your forehead Necron99, hope the scope is alright. Thanks again.

That was my experience. Had to do a little iron sight shooting with the Polytech w/out the receiver cover that day (left the original cover at home). At first it appeared that the receiver cover fit, but after more critical examination (after the bump on my head) the cover was not fully engaged with the receiver, and the recoil spring release was not extended entirely. I was truly surprised as it appeared to be on there firmly. I put the receiver cover on several more times, just to see if it was a fluke, but it flew off every time. It has never done this on the Hungarian SA-85 I had it on previously, so that's where it is now. I'd try to find a Chinese receiver cover with scope rail if I were you. Another thing, the scope rails can be sometimes held by some pretty flimsy welds, so you're zero may change from handling. I've got an easy solution for fixing that if you're interested.
I ran into the same problem with a Maddi receiver cover. A little light filing on the hole the recoil spring goes in cured it. The best receiver cover scope mt I have used is the chinese with piece that goes under the rear sight and tightens down with a screw. Really holds mt in place stops movement of cover.
