View Full Version : magazine wobbles??
That is odd. Neither of my AKs have any wobble at all. Check the magzine maybe you just have a bad one.

I have an older MAK-90. I have found that the Chinese 30 round mags fit better than the East German ones which tend to wobble a little from side to side. But they seem to tighten when they are fully loaded. Try them loaded fully if you havent already. They still seem to wobble slightly even then but ever so slightly. Dont even notice when firing and never had a feeding problem. Seems to me this is probably normal with Chinese quality especially when using East German mags. Should be alright unless it falls out completely or is wobbling more than a degree or two from side to side. Then you cant dive and roll or you might lose your magazine http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/smile.gifI dont notice it at all unless shaking the rifle while in the safe position. Now if it wobbles from front to back theres got to be a problem. If so take it back and raise hell till they give you a new one.

I own a MAK, too, and you need to remember that this isn't an $900 AR-15 or a $2000 H&K long gun...
On that note, the quality of machining and assembly is enough to produce a very reliable and durable firearm with a minimum of time spent in forging, machining, aligning, blueprinting, etc. You're looking at a functional weapon designed to be dragged through the mud, submerged in swamp gunk, run over by trucks, dropped by soldiers and buried in sand - AND STILL FIRE.
And it will. Just keep in mind that some of the tolerances on these guns are loose, that may be due to poor assembly or designed to be loose so that binding will not occur in hostile environments. The communist view on assembly can be summarized as; "if it works - use it."
When AK's are viewed in that light, they take on a different kind of attraction all their own!

I tried to re-post your picture but it wouldnt work. You have to use these[ ] Not these ( ) My magazines all have a little bit of wobble from left to right. It has never caused a problem for me though.

Hello Badintermod,
I have owned AKs that have loose mags when inserted. My Poly-Techs are always tighter than my Norincos. If it does not affect the function of your rifle you will have to learn to live with it. Enjoy your new MAK, OUT

And yeah, I've experienced the wobble too with some of the Chinese mags, but when fully loaded they seem to tighten up just fine.

Is there a noticeable difference in wobble when loaded? My slr-95 exibits this only w/ U.S.A. mags not w/ euro or chicom 30's when loaded.

Magazines will usually wobble a little in most AK's. It is just a characteristic of the weapon and won't affect the performance.
