I bought a used Norinco .223 caliber rifle it is marked BWK-92 on the receiver,it has a angled receiver. What did I buy? Also it has a pistol grip on it. Is this legal? What would be estimated value of this rifle?

What other markings are on the receiver? made in? imported by?
It is stamped 92 so only a thumbhole stock is legal.

"BWK-92" does sound like the markings of a postban. Though I am not familiar with BWK. I would start looking it over seriously. I would talk to whomever you bought it from and see if they know any of the rifle's history. If a dealer sold you an illegal rifle to my understanding they can be in a fair amount of trouble so most really watch it. However an individual might not be aware or care. The pistol grip (but not a folding stock, a flash hider, or a bayo lug) may still be legal is someone installed one of those US parts kits. THough depending on how they did it to follow the rules verbatum you might have to have US made followers and floorplates in all of your magazines (I know this is getting a little ridiculous, does the word splitting hairs come to mind). Take care and good luck with your purchase just some guidlines for value

Norinco preban .223 with fixed stock excellent condition you are looking at around a $1000 in most areas

Norinco used postban .223 you are looking at $350 to $500 in most areas

If it has a US parts kit some people might see the value as more because of the investment while others might see it as less because the rifle has been molested. That is about as specific as I can comfortably get.
