Got the GEW 98 late last month dated 1918. The preduetze 44 K98 I got months ago with a straight bolt on it. I finally broke down and paid $50 for a new unissued K98 bolt from Numerich. Headpsaces perfectly so Im happy. I only paid $89 for the rifle. The GEW was $99 I think, has a small crack in buttstock besides that it's in great shape. Both have mirror bores.

The GEW stock looks kind of dry. Put anything on it?

Yeah it's dry I haven't done any work on either of these rifles yet. I put some lemon oil on the stock to tide it over till I get to it.

Nice rifle's REDSTAR,i didn't know the gew 98 had a finger grove in the stock like the nagant's.:cool:
