I vistited a shop today looking at AK's. Most were Poly-tech's and one Norinco. The Norinco was nice looking and had a milled receiver. The dealer said that the milled version being heavier, would retain the heat longer. Could this be true? Does it matter? I shot my freinds MAK-90 with a milled receiver and was more uncomfortable with the "hot" forestock. I'm guessing that this is due to the routing of the spent gases from the recoil system. Any way to make the forestock more comfortable for long term firing? Also the rear stock is way to short for me(almost 2"), would I be smarter to get another stock or just add a thick recoil pad? Thanks for all replies.

Best thing I ever did for my MAK was change out the front handguard for a Bulgarian heat-shielded model. I bought the complete set, but putting the full stock on would be WRONG! I would NEVER do that! Not me!

As for stock length, I suggest getting a Choate stock set and using the back half. Because you know that once you put on the full stock set, you will become a KILLER! Your weapon will automatically convert into a select-fire killing machine with a mind of its very own!

McSniper... I got it from Global Trades. Here's their URL... http://www.globaltrades.com

You can buy the front handguard, gas tube cover, and pistol grip as a unit... or you can buy the whole stock set as a unit.

A little (and I do mean little) filing is necessary to fit onto a MAK. Works like a charm and looks like a dream.
