1. Obsolete and cant get any ammo for it, but this thing is a real piece of history. No upper handguard as the barrel was wrapped with a tube to dissipate the heat. Called the Commission Mauser it was the first to take the German Army out of the Blackpowder age. Very nice. I will post this evening pics.:D

Neat looking rifle. Like the Turkish 1895 Mauser it can be purchased thru the mail without any license.
http://www.rememuseum.org.uk/arms/rifles/armgm88/arm072.jpg When the French in 1886 adopted the 8 mm Lebel, using smokeless powder cartridges, it caused the Germans to search for a suitable counter weapon. This was the result. It was actually developed by a German Army Commission and combines the magazine of the 'Mannlicher' with bolt features of the 'Mauser Model 1871/1874'. It is frequently called a 'Mauser' and also a 'Mannhcher', but it is in fact neither. This particular rifle was made by Spandau in 1890

Well you can't buy it off the shelf but you could get by with reloading 8 mm cases for it. Just use small charges and keep the speed down to about 2100 fps.

Seems Huntington's usually stocks .318 diameter bullets.
Bullets and and dies and you are up and shooting.

Both the Italian Carcano and Russian Mosin have roots in this gun's design.
A nice piece of firearms history!
