Hello, Board. I just picked up my new rifle from the dealer and thought I'd give a short first impression.

The Firing Line receiver is a nice chunk of steel and looks very much like my Bulgarian milled piece on another gun. The dust cover fits perfectly and the assembly work looks first rate.

I sent Mike a used Chinese parts kit that was left over from my Krinkov project. I asked him not to refinish the parts and use the old furniture to keep the "war trophy" look. Now I'm thinking I should get some new wood and a nice refinish job.

I haven't had a chance to shoot the gun yet but will let you know how it goes.

I took the MLS-99 to the range yesterday and shot 80 rounds through it. Functioning is perfect and the action and trigger are very smooth. As far as accuracy, I am disappointed, as I am getting five-shot groups in the 5-6" range. I had expected better out of a milled gun. In all fairness to Firing Line, this gun shot 5-6" at 100 yards back when it was a pre-ban Chinese AK. I'll try some various types of ammo and see what happens.

Overall, I'm still happy with the receiver and assembly work from Firing Line.

Well, On the bright side -At least the groups didn't open up..:D
I was kinda impressed by that statement though too....
seem pretty neet that you could take a Bbl. outta one receiver ,put it an another, and keep the same group size ;)

Part of the accuracy problem is the targets I'm using. All I've got are B-27 targets and I have a hard time getting a consistent sight picture on such a big surface. I'm sure I could print better groups with an 8" bull. I'll get some and try that.

I shot another 120 rounds through the gun this morning. It's still running like a true AK. Accuracy is about the same with Barnaul as opposed to Wolf but the Barnual shoots about 5" higher than the Wolf. A target rifle she ain't! But it isn't supposed to be.
