I finally got one of these rifles. I've always thought they were the coolest Mauser based carbines you could get. I haven't been able to get a good pic yet, but once I do I will post.

I also picked up a few battle packs of South African 7.62x51 for it. I guess this stuff is cool to shoot through it. From what I've read you should only shoot military surplus through these and not any "hot" loads.

A few questions if I may for those of you who have one...

Do the .308 5 round stripper clips that TAPCO sells work with this?

Is there anywhere I can get the issue cleaning kit for these? the one that is supposed to go in the little capsule that sorta looks like a gas tube?

Also...anywhere I can get a bayo for it?

Thanks guys :)

I just mailed funds out for one on Friday myself. I believe that the CETME bayonet fits the FR-8 and TAPCO has these in stock for nineteen dollars and some change. I haven't checked for the cleaning kits though. I'm looking forward to your pics and please give us a complete range report.

Happy shooting!

Yes,

A Cetme bayonet is what you need.I got one in mint condition off ebay.I been looking for Cetme cleaning kits for months so good luck on those. You can always just put a wrapped up pull through cord and brush in your tube and carry an oil bottle on your belt or bag.It will do fine.Glad to see you finally bought one.

Took me a long time of searching but finally have all the cleaning kit parts in the tube (oil capsules included) and the front sight tool in there also....
