Hi everyone, I've been reading this site for a long time now, but never posted anything. I have a postban Maadi with US parts.
I far as I am aware, the gun with US parts is classified as a domestic, and the law states that the domestic gun can have two lethal features such as detachible mag, pistol grip, treaded barrel, bayonet lug and folding stock. In theory, you CAN have a folder but not the pistol grip or the detachible mag. My Question is: what if you get a folding stock just like some WWII SubGuns, The stock attaches to the bottom of your american made pistolgrip and to the back of the reciever. It would be a folding Thumbhole stock. Pistol grip is not really a pistol grip anymore and you can put another lethal feature. And ofcource that would be a Folder. That kind of stock could be made out of East German folder that requires no gunsmithing to install(I think AA-OK has those for $40) The butt is made out of a wire that is bent into a triangle, unbent it, probably weld a rod to it and make a different tang sqrew. There it is, you have a folder with detachible mag. I was thinking about it for so long, but I want your oppinions. As much as I understand the law, it should be legal, but there might be a small part that didn't understand. Tell me If we can do such a thing. It will be posible to make one of these stocks during a weekend and it wouldn't be that expencive. I am waiting for your responces

Been tried. The BATF says thumboles=pistole grips for domestic rifles. Bummer. As always, domestic and imports are treated very differently.

I heard of a co. called "ACE Ltd" that makes
a US mfg. folding stock that is supposed to
be legal with the right amount of USA parts?
I talked to the manufacturer at the gunshow
and I noticed the folding buttstocks looked
GI ? he told me the stocks are actually mfg.
from surplus USGI FN minimi 249 SAW stocks
and he only machines the part that makes the
folding mechanism to fit an AK rifle. For
more info. call 916-346-2492 they do precision machine work, metal fabrication,
brasing,Gunsmithing,parkerizing.

how hard is it to change the mounts from folder to a not folder, does it still counts as a folder if you put a some kind of folding mechanizm blocker on it. Personally I prefer AK74 type of folding stock, does anyone sell those in a nonfolding version(the same kind as the mascot of this page has) Thanks

I know Choate had some folders a while back that just took a pin to make a fixed stock. These were legal on post-bans if they had the pin. VERY easy to change back and forth. http://www.ak-47.net:81/akcgi/smile.gif

When put on a post-ban gun the Ace stock has to use a non-folding mount. I have the folding version on my Valmet.
