View Full Version : If I bought an AK after 1-1-00 out of state, Would CA Know?

I would like to pick up another AK or AR, but I cannot afford one right now.
But, if I were to buy one in January or February out of state (anywhere but CA) could I just register it along with a couple of my other guns when the registration crap starts taking place here in CA? Would the fascist government of CA know that I bought it after 1-1-2000?
Or would my best bet be to just buy a lower receiver before the ban kicks in, which would be allot cheaper than the whole gun. Thanks.

The problem is that California may request proof of purchase before 1/1/00 from you in order to register it. I don't believe they did this back when the first ban went into effect, but who knows what they'll do this time. In addition, you will be signing the registration form under penalty of perjury. Now, if your real name were Clinton, I'm sure you wouldn't have problem with this, but perjury is a crime as well. I opted to just buy a receiver rather than tke the risk of being caught without proper documentation. Good Luck.

If you want to live in California then you need to find a new hobby. California doesn't want any guns or gun owners in their state. They are a fascist republic and if you think you are going to be able to sneak weapons or mags in after 01/01/00 then you are under-estimating the power of Feinstein's regime. The only real solution for the people of Kalifornia is decide whether or not they wish to continue to reside there and surrender their second ammendment right or move elsewhere. I know it's hard to swallow but you know it's the truth. Why are you Kalifornians still trying and hoping you will be able to avoid the inevitable?

gopher29,
What do you want us to do, give up! Thats just what the gun grabbers want. I don't know about you but I'm not a quitter! Think of it this way, if it happens here it will happen somewhere else too. Perhaps where YOU live!

Have you considered refusing to register your weapons? Continuing to buy weapons that are already banned and future weapons after they have been banned? Buying and importing and stock-piling hi-Cap mags after 01/01/00? ...another words, instead of asking when or if or what kind of weapon you can legally buy in CA now, have you considered just doing what you believe is constitutionally right and not neccessarily right in the eyes of CA? ...street sweepers are not legal in my state of residence but if I could afford one???

Hey Doc Evil, what about a lay-a-way plan?

That lay-a-way plan (at first) made me laugh. However do you suppose if you start the transaction now it would be legal to finish after 1/1/2000?

The layaway depends on when they transfer it to you. I doubt they would transfer the gun to you until you paid it in full...therefore that would not work.

you MUST be in possession of the gun by 12-31-99, for it to be possessed legally, teh final day for paperwork is dec 20,99
now if you can get one out of state after 2000, it would be illegal, but i dont think they would know it, and to my knowledge they might not ask for proof of purchase and the ate when bought, but they COULD, i dont think they did in '89 ban, as far as i can remember

you have 20 days to search the ends of the earth to find the gun you want and get papered by the 20th and picked up NO LATER than the 31st
sucks huh ? --HTH
