I purchased a 1994 Norinco MaK-90 with pre installed black dragunov style fiberforce front and rear furniture, 4 30 rd mags, 2 10 rd, and 75 rd norinco drum with assault case for 300.00,
but I was really wondering what kind of accuracy do others get with their mak-90`s, I`m shooting 10 inch groups with an occasional flyer at 100yds, not a tack driver, not what im used to with my M1A ,but is this normal...I`d appreciate any info on what you get.

Depends on how your shooting,
if your shooting from a bench I would guess 5-6" would probably be the average with Wolf ammo maybe a little better with Barnaul. IMO it takes time to get used to AK sights.
Welcome aboard.

I've gotten anywhere from 3" to 7" groups at 100 yards. It depends on what ammo I am using etc. I did have a 2" group once with my MAK-90. My best group was with winchester ammo, and my smaller groups have been with some hard shooting czeck ammo and yugoslav ammo, I got back a number of years ago (93-94 time frame). Either way, try a bunch of different brand ammos and see what shoots best for you.

That's a pretty normal group for an AK. I wouldn't worry too much about it. It's as good as a Mini-14.

I bought one for $180 about 6-7 years ago, and sold it for $300 (best money I ever made on a gun), but it was a POS as far as grouping went. I would have been happy with a 10 inch group. On the other hand, my stock Mini-14 with a cheap Tasco scope and 64 grain Winchester PP bullets and my secret load will consistently do at least 1moa at 100 yards and sometimes a lot less.

I think 5 to 6 MOA with steel-cased ball, and 3 to 4 MOA with brass-cased is a pretty reliable standard.

1moa on a mini-14? Hell, i want in. Print it in a book, and you'll make millions. Ruger might even buy it off of u. :jump:

10 inch groups????????
Sounds like a shot out barrel to me.
5-6" is standard at 100 yards with many AK's, using cheap ammo, but 10" is waaaay outa line!

Keep in mind that this is all unsupported shooting with iron sights only. The MAK behaved pretty well but the groups really opened up when the barrel got hot.

Seriously guys, I can get 10" groups easy with a SAR 2 and a Kobra, shooting rapid fire and resting against a tree.
But from a bench???
I say it's either the barrel or the shooter.

Not good at all from a bench(10inch groups) Yes, my Sar and Maadis will shoot That rapid fire sitting. I have found over the years that MK90 are not as accurate as Maadis.

My dads mak 90 is in .223 and was shooting wolf ammo. I think the thing shoots like 3.5" groups at 100 yards maybe 5". The thing is pretty dang accurate though considering I don't shoot often and it was from standing position. The wolf ammo is good in .223 I think. I actually like it over .223 winchester because it is 1/3rd in price and fires just as accurate. The JHP wolf can go through telephone poles? crazy stuff.
Also, at like 200 yards we shot a pond and it hit like within the area you were aiming with the sights adjusted to 200 yards. Sounds your barrel is bad or something. And after like 15 shots the barrel warms up quickly and accuracy suffers.

Try it again with a truly steady rest, a very consistent sight picture, and only measure the first two groups of 3 (or 5). Wait a good long time between groups.
Most AKs get less accurate ass the barrel warms. After 10 shots or so, she's getting warm enough to open up the groups.

If you are an old M1A shooter, adapting to the AK will take some time. It is hard to shoot well with the short sight radius. But you should be able to cut this in half. I never had any of the Chinese guns shoot as well as the SARS or the Saigas, but it should do better than 10".
