I just got my hands on a1911A1 made for Argentina by Colt.
Execpt for some of the markings it's identical to a G.I.issue.
10,000 were produced before manufacturing began in Argentina( Sistima).
My pistol has been refinished and is in excellent working order, it shoots straight and ( so far) is very reliable with ball ammo, I haven't tried any H-P, but I wouldn't expect it to cycle very well.

The markings are as follow
Left side of slide;
COLTS'S PT.F.A.MFG.CO HARTFORD CT.U.S.A.
PAT'D APR.20,1897. SEPT.9,1902. DEC.19,1905. FEB.14,1911. AUG.19,1913

Right;
EJERCITO ARGENTINO
COLT CAL.45 MODEL 1927

Ser# on top of slide and barrel ( 36xx) are original.
When it was arsenaled they added the ser. # to the right side of the frame. I haven't checked the mainspring housing to see if the matching Ser. # is there, but all the Colt proof marks are on the frame.

JLD is advertising these on their site for $395.

That's about what I paid for a Sistema Colt 1911 at the local show a few months back. I absolutely love that gun (it's the only handgun I own right now), its refinish is nice and it shoots really nice, with tight grouping. I also love the widespur hammer, too.

But there's nothing quite like an authentic Colt.

Are you planning on shooting Wolf through it?

Dok, are you telling me that you sold your beloved MAKs?????:D

I don't think I'm going to shoot Wolf through her. Actually I'm getting some reloading gear.
With the FAL and now the .45 I've got to get the price per bullet down.

Have you stripped it yet? No I don't mean field strip, I mean all the way down to the bare frame. It's fun.

Here'a a Kool site (http://www.m1911.org/full_striping.htm) and another (http://www.sightm1911.com/)

The first site makes dissassembly basically fool proof.
A tip though. After reinstalling the sear spring partially reinstall the mainspring housing to keep the sear spring in place before reinstalling the safeties.

Yes, I sold my Makarov a few months back and I see little reason to get another handgun. The 1911 is perfect for me and I love rapid firing her.

Yes, a friend of mine collects Garands, M1 Carbines, and 1911's. He showed me how to disassemble her the first day. When I tried it on my own, I got it all stripped except the trigger, because the side screw was already so buggered up I didn't want to make it worse. I have been tinkering with amateur gunsmithing since I was 17, so I was fairly comfortable taking it all apart. I think the disconnecter was the only part I had a problem putting back in at first, but it eventually seemed to fall into place alright.

I have been shooting Sellier & Bellot so far, but Puppy Pusher is talking me into giving Wolf a try. 100 or more rounds at the range is pretty easy to do, so I try to keep it as cheap as possible.

Thanks for the links!

Although mine was made in Argentine "ms?", here is a pic of it after I did a few "upgrades" myself.

:whiner: Secesh when did you get your Colt. I ordered one in Feb. hoping to get one by March. I then waited a while and called. They guy said that they will ship May 13th. I called again in late May and he said that they won't be able to ship because of a problem in Argentina that couldn't do anything about. I'm patient but I was wondering if you ran into any similiar problems or if it's just a case of bad luck.

Hey Shawnd1
Was the problem they mentioned had to do with the Argentina
Bank not releasing "there" money?
That is what I was told when I called to check on my order.

Sorry guys,
Mine was old stock. My ffl bought a bunch of firearms from a guy who was closing his pawn shop.
Luckily for me I was there when he was unpacking everything.

Good Luck:(
