just bought a CAI egyptian made maadi misr-10 with pistol grip (can use only single stack 10 round mags). real piece of crap with paint finish that easily flakes off, but still a pretty good deal at $239 for a high power campfire rifle.

anyways, does anyone know if the wood buttstock, wood handguards and black plastic pistol grip on the misr-10 are imported or US made?

want to replace those parts with better quality imported wood, but didn't want to violate 922(r) in case any of those original parts are US made.

i'm pretty certain that all of the original wood parts are imported, but stumped on the plastic pistol grip. the salesperson says that the pistol grip is part of the assortment of US made parts that allows for the pistol grip configuration, but i've checked pictures of the original pre-89 ban Steyr-Daimler-Puch Maadi, and they have exactly the same looking black plastic pistol grip.

i've call Century International, and they won't give any information on which parts are US made (who knows why) telling me to call BATF, who in turn referred me to another BATF office, who in turn referred me to another agency in D.C., who in turn didn't have a clue what the heck i was talking about.

anyone know?

The black pistol grip on the MISR-10 and MISR-90 is US made, but it does look somewhat authentic to the preban grips. The biggest differance is that the factory equipped prebans aren't of near shoddy worksmanship...just look at the markes at the mold seam that they made with a belt sander! I am making a wood grip to replace mine, and I am going to document it with pictures throughout the steps to prove that it is US made (this tip was given to me by a ATF agent). Just take pictures of your work from start to finish. As for the stock and handgaurds, they are imported and can be replaced with imported parts as long as you don't insert an imported high cap magazine. I refinished the wood on my MISR-90 with linseed oil and it just look much better, if your curious, I can email you a picture to prove it.

Keep it safe and fun,
