I have a Saiga 7.62, no US parts at all. I know that I can't add anything to it that would make it a banned import, but what exactly would make it a banned import? Does anyone know exactly what makes an import banned? Yes, I know I can get a US parts kit, but I have no need for a pistol grip or hi-cap mag. Basically, I'm just wondering if I can a muzzle break and keep it off the banned import list.

Yes since the rifle is so Politically correct to begin with it won't matter.

It takes 2 evil features to make a imported rifle a assualt weapon. The Saiga has none in it orignal as imported state. So a threaded barrel for a muzzle break is only 1 and legal.

A thumb-hole stock doesn't count as an evil feature, right?

Folding stock, pistol grip, bayonet mount, flash suppressor or threaded barrel to accommodate on, and granade launcher are the evil features.
A thumbhole is not one.

Styer AUG has a thumbhole and is used by 2 countries austraila and austria. Therefore those commie bastards in califorina are totally justified in saying thumbhole stocks are evil.

Believe it or not, under California law, a thumbhole stocks counts as an evil feature, two of which require registration of the gun. Since when has a thumbhole stock been used by any military? Since when does a thumbhole stock make a rifle more deadly or more likely to be used in a crime? Give me a break.

Actually the Styer AUG in its true pre-ban form doesent have a dumb hole stock.

Only the post-ban AUG's that were recently imported into the US have the dumb-hole stock.
