Hi all this is my first time on here you seem to have a lot of knowlage so what I am asking is this. I live in the communist state of kalifornia (but can't afford to move out) and I have a Norinco 56s pre-ban with all the evil stuff bayonet, threaded barrel, pistol stock ect. I purchased it in Feb 1989 and being a good citizen registed it and the date on my registration is Feb 8 1992. It was registered by the deadline so is it one of the ones the gastopos will be coming for in 2000
or are they only coming for those registered during the ammnesty period please give me any and all help you can thanks
p.s. this is a really good site long live the AK and those who love them!!!

If the registration says 8FEB92 your rifle is
one of the late registered ones when they
extended the time limit so you will probably
be getting a letter in the mail soon about
turning it in, Ive been hearing of a few
people that have already received the
confiscation letters. Maybe you could sell
to an out of state FFL dealer ? instead of
turning it in ? sorry to see you guys get
stabbed in the back for abiding in the law.

you MIGHT be ok with the gun ---there was a FIRST regisration period --where few did-- the state then offered a SECOND registration period for other people to register and they put commerical ads on tv to get more people to register -- i dont know the dates on when all this happened
the problem is the state accepted LATE registers AFTER the Second registration period passed --theres about 1550 people who have ALREADY recieved a letter from the DOJ to turn in there gun before 2000
as you said you in your post "it was registered by the deadline" and since you havent already gotten a letter from the DOJ, i would say your gun is Legal
those 1550 people have or should have already been notified months ago
what you need to do is find the dates of when it was legal to register and when it wasnt
im sure you can find this on the NRA website or the DOJ website --HTH

NEWS FROM CALIFORNIA

CALIFORNIA AG DROPS APPEAL ON GUN REGISTRATION DECISION:
Attorney General Bill Lockyer decided on Tuesday to drop an appeal of a suit brought against the California
Department of Justice by Handgun Control, Inc. Former Attorney General Dan Lungren appealed a July 1998
ruling by a San Francisco superior court judge that he violated the state’s Assault Weapons Control Act (AWCA)
by allowing the registration of firearms after the March 1992 deadline prescribed in the law. The decision by AG
Lockyer to drop the appeal paves the way for the Department of Justice to proceed with plans to force gun
owners, who both registered firearms after the deadline AND who abided by the law as interpreted by the
Attorney General, to turn them in. Lockyer intends to ask the state legislature to appropriate funds to compensate
those who have turned in their firearms. Gun owners who are affected by the Attorney General’s decision will
receive notification of their status from the DOJ and will have 90 days to comply. Those who do not comply within
that time period will be identified from the registration list concerning the confiscation of their firearm(s).

For more information on how you may be affected,

please contact the California Department of Justice at (916) 227-3694.

i hate to say it but this is old news, the NRA is fighting this action or at least hired an attorney chuck michel to fight it in court, this deals with those people who registered there AWs LATE from teh '89 ban, and they were accepted by the old AG lundgren, but the courts found that those who did register late were in violation of the law, regardless if they were accepted by the state
there are 1550 people who are in deep doo doo over this, the new attorney nazi general says he will notify the local PDs to pick up those guns that are not turned in, and they have the address from those registration forms

those people should have already gotten there notifications to turn in there guns, compensation ? BULLSHIT they will get nothing, and most of those guns are worth well over a $1000 each
