I was wondering if anyone could confirm that CETME bayonets and slings will fit the FR-8.
Also if anyone had ordered FR-8 Ufixems from century...how available are FR-8 parts and are they fairly interchangeable with other mauser parts?

I'm about 90% sure the Cetme bayo and sling is identical or interchangeable to the FR8.
Century no longer has Ufixum FR8's.
I'd say parts are hard to come by, if so they won't be cheap.
Other Mausers would not work on the FR8 IMO. Never looked at it too closely though.

yes, the cetme bayonet and sling are the exact same as the fr-8 items.
the bolt, ejector, magazine assembly and fire control parts are standard 8mm mauser items althought the magazine well has a block in the front. the front and rear sights are different from the mauser, but i've been told the front sight is the same as the cetme, just upside down.
the little tube that is under the barrel and locks into the front sight ring is for the cleaning kit, same as the cetme.

Sorry guys,
The Cetme takes a much dirrent sling than the FR8.The FR8 takes your regular strap type sling like a enfield or Springfield 1903.The Cetme takes a slot type sling with a special clip on the end that attaches to the rod inside the buttstock. The front of the Cetme sling has a spring type release at the front to attach to the rife on the side.Like the H&K G3 slings.I know this is fact because I have both.By the way you can use mauser 8mm stripper clips with the FR8.They work fine. The Cetme bayonet was made for both the FR8 and Cetme rifle, the bayonet end cap on both rifles is the same and so is the barrel.SS396 is right in the fact that the Cetme barrel was turned upside down on the FR8 and
the sight was attached to the oppisite side

hmmmmmmmmmmm
my fr-8 has a rigid metal loop on the left side of the stock that the sling goes through. it also has the original mauser sling swivel on the bottom. the sling that came witht the rifle when i bought it has a leather tab that folds around the rigid loop, and uses a button to fasten back to itself. it uses a metal spring loaded hook at the front just like an hk.
the cetme has a slot cut on the stock and is recessed like a german k98 mauser on the right side. i have the exact same sling as on the fr-8. the leather tab on the end of the sling goes through the stock from left to right and uses either a metal buckle (sold seperately) or a leather tab just like the k98 mauser. also sold seperately. it uses a spring loaded metal hook at the front just like an hk.
i don't know if my fr-8 is different than others with the rigid metal loop or not, but i do know i have the exact same sling on both, and i just assumed that was the way it was supposed to be.
pictures would show it better, but i don't have a digital camera.

AKWARRIOR,
could you post some pics of the two different slings. I just recieved my FR-8 Thursday and it has a metal spring activated clip attached to the top of the barrel on the side and a leather strip with a button "Mauser like" attachment to the side of the butt stock.
Thanks,
Speedfish

there are excellent pictures of both on rifleslings.com under "spain"
they look identical to me.
this site is an excellent reference on all types of slings from many countries.

The bayonet lugged cleaning kit cap on my FR-8 would NOT fit on my CETME.
Just in case any ATF guys are thinking that a post-ban CETME and a FR-8 in the same house means you can add a bayo lug to your CETME. The lug itself is probably the same, but the caps are NOT interchangable. LAter

Thats quite odd.I figured that because they both had the same barrels they would take the same caps.:confused:Oh well it was just an idea.:D I dont have my Cetme yet for comparison but I will next week.Ill examine it then.
Regards,
The slings I have for my CETME and the slings that came with my FR8's are the same.
The differences are the CETME uses a metal buckle to keep it in the stock and the FR8 has a metal button like a regular mauser in the stock and the upper part uses the clip just like the CETME.
Also the barrels are not upside down in the FR8. The front sight base is just moved. On the CETME the barrel goes through the bottom hole(which is where the bayo lug and cleaning kit is on the FR8) and on the FR8 it goes through the middle hole(which is where the cleaning kit is stored on the CETME).
There are some differences in the bayonets. But they are only cosmetic.
Here is the CETME bayonet:

The scabbard color is different(darker) and the blade is dull.
Here is one of my FR8's with the bayonet:

The scabbard is a lighter color and the blade is gloss black.
Hope this helps.

Thanks ED for clearing it up.I have seen many FR8's that came with just your basic leather strap slings with the 2 buttons. This has lead to some confusion on my part.

And just to let everyone know I wasn't trying to flame if it seemed like it.
I didn't know links from another photo place would work so here's one of my FR8's.
