Stopped by a store today and saw one of the CMP M44 .22 rifles. I just ordered mine a few weeks ago for $75+shipping. This was a nice blued model with walnut of course it had the obligatory shrunken trigger guard. Price tag was $599.95 + background check and sales tax. Yeah right, and a kiss on the cheek after the fuckin er, I mean sale. Going into places like this makes me feel better about even the worst firearms deal/trade I've ever made in my life. I guess when mine gets here I should walk in and right in front of everybody, tell him I'll let him steal it from me for $400 OTD;)

Richard what a rip-off! In fact I wonder if this guy is breaking CMP policy. You're not supposed to resell the rifles.

Say I see you're in Roanoke VA, almost close enough to join us in a NC Irregulars Shoot some weekend.

For $600.00 each, take your pick . . . .

Love to. Just give me a holler sometime.

Very nice Faulkner. I like both the park and the blued finish. Wonder what I'll get when mine arrives? Is one more common than the other?

How well do they shoot? I saw them in my CMP catalog and they caught my eye. I'd like an accurate .22.

a friend of mine who is still in the Army, was a ROTC instructor at penn state, they had a indoor range for the cadets to shoot these....I'm here to tell you they are one super accurate weapon. if you do all the proper shooting techniques you can make one ragged hole from 4 or 5 rounds...of course the ammo was the red boxed ELY ammo, from what he told me it's the most accurate .22 ammo you can get .....if you can find them. like anything else ammo is a very key componet to sub MOA shooting...as well as shooting techniques.

he also had all sort of attachment that go on the rifle, cheek rest, and some other stuff..which I don't know if you can buy from the CMP.

The M44 I received from the CMP was blued and looked new. I was so impressed I ordered another - still waiting on that one. I seen one for $395.00. CMP will probably run out this summer. Gettem while the gettens good.

Where can you buy the trigger guards and magazines?

I believe Numrich sells them though the mags run over $20 bills. Check out the Smallbore Forum at www.jouster.com There are posts there about all things M44. Someone sells an black aluminum triggerguard that is supposed to be way better than the plastic ones.
