Does anyone in Mass own an AK or other assault rifle? I am considering moving there but if their gun laws suck I might stay where I am. Any info will be appreciated. I don know that they DO have STRICT laws though. Thanks

Although I am just looking into getting an AK-47, I do have a post ban AR-15. The state assault weapons laws mirror the federal ones. However, there are three types of gun permits. Firearms Identification Card allows you to own long guns with a capacity of less than 10. A class B License to Carry allows low capacity handguns (not concealed) and high capacity long guns. A class A License to Carry allows concealed carry handguns of any capacity and any capacity long guns. Each town's police chief issues the permits at his discretion. Some towns will issue a Class A with no problem, others won't issue Class A at all (unless rerquired by your job). I am a state certified firearms instructor and am doing my best to get as many people to qualify for Class A permits. E-mail me (dougda@rcn.com) back with any further questions.

Check out Illinois. I occationally take my 92 out to rock while I'm in wait mode of a business trip. Went to a Wal-mart someplace in IL to get some cheap stuff to put holes in paper with. They have to have some sort of firearms owners ID just to buy ammo!

Don't even think about moving to Mass. They make up new laws as they go. Next to california its the most Anti-gun state in the union. Actually its not even a state its a Commonwealth. Remember they have a manditory one year jail sentence if you have in your possession a firearm without a firearms id card. You also can't buy ammo without an ID card. In NH it is your right to have a concealed weapons permit. As long as you have no felony's you will be issued a license to carry. The fee is $20 for four years. If you have no license you may have, transport, and carry in full sight a firearm. The only catch is while transporting a firearm it must be in sight and unloaded. You just can't carry it concealed without a License. There are many Rod and Gun clubs to shoot at too. I pay $30 a year to shoot at the club that is one mile down the street from my house. Most towns in NH have their own Rod and Gun clubs. Our only problem is keeping the Massholes from moving up to our State and preaching there anti-gun crap. There is a reason why we have on our license plate "LIVE FREE OR DIE". We not only mean it, we demand it. If you own a firearm its the best place to live. Come and check us out.

WOW!!!!!
I could never live like that. Dont know how you guys can do it. Maybe someday the media wont be able to push their politically correct(OBEY OR ELSE)ways on us and we can get our rights back the way Mr.Franklin and Mr.Jefferson meant it. I feel your pain and good luck, if it ever gets too bad there you can always head up north again.
