Japanese Type 99, 7.7mm manufactured in the Kokura arsenal. Production series 24, late war manufacture as evidenced by the rough finish of the metal parts. ALL NUMBERS MATCH! NO IMPORT MARKS! Stock is beautiful blonde color with practically no marks but does have a coat of finish on it. Finish on barrel and reciever is about 70%. Butt plate, mag plate, sling swivels and bands have been painted black. Bore is bright and shiney with very good rifling. No sling or cleaning rod. As you can see from the one picture the mum has been ground.

1. Im not familiar with Japanese weapons. I do know that they are supposed to have a stamped flower on receiver. Does yours have that? Towards the end of the war the stamps were sporadic.:p

Neilwest if you look at the top of the receiver you will see a hole and some japanese lettering.Right in front of that is where the mom was ground.I will add a close up photo.

Very nice, looks like a keeper. Thats one of the nicest Japanese rifles I've seen. A friend has a trashed 99 "surrender" piece for a wall hanger, the mum is ground and the bbl. is missing the front sight and welded closed. Still a neat gun for $10! (garage sale)

Beautiful,

Hmmm the monpod seems to be missing on that specimen. Most soldiers disposed of the pods except the snipers and even most of them 86ed them.To bad the mums are gone.Still a beauty.Just think maybe some Jap was shooting at marines from a palm tree with that.hehehe.

The Mums were removed by us at the request of the Emporer of Japan, after the war, as part of the surrender agreement, as I understand it.

To find one with an intact Crisanthemum is somewhat rare.

Nice 99 - now you need one of those cool Jap bayonets to go with her!

At request of the Emporer, that is interesting.I have a friend that is on the city swat team.He had a jap paratrooper given to him.It is a factory capture.I must get pics and post them.It is in prefect condition with mum intact.

Those paratrooper rifles are very rare. They dismantle into 2 parts. There is an interrupted thread joint between the barrel and the reciever to take it down on the Type 0.Id love to come across one and have been on the lookout for years.there are 3 types of these.Type 0,Type 1, and the Type 2.Type 1's had a folding buttstock and the Type 2's had a sliding wedge in place of the earlier Type 0 interrupted thread for take down into 2 parts.
