I cut my teeth on Colt 1911's for two reasons. One,because most of my experiences with 1911's have all been with Colts and second for historical reasons. So,who is your favorite 1911 manufacturer and why?

My favorite has always been the 1911 (Not A1) by Colt. You cant top the Workmanship and History of a "Colt .45":)

Carried various makes in the service, Singer, Remington Rand, Colt but as a civilian I've owned a Colt Series 80 Government Model since 1983. It has never let me down other than an occasionally ejecting an empty straight back at my forehead. Don't shoot it as much as I used to. Need to change that fact.

I own a Springfield 1911A1 that has impressed both Schuetzenman and UGACherokee (hehe). I've fired Kimbers, Paras, a Star B, and HDR's little gem. I love them all! :D

Springfield Armory, cuz it was free.:D

Since then it`s had some 'stuff' done to it.

S/V is a tasty race gun, limited role but a work of art

I am rather taken by my AMT Hardballer. It was my first 1911. And its kinda cool having one the first stainless 1911's made. Mine is a first year pistol with a super low serial number. AMT and another company were doing stainless 1911's even before colt.

I have 2 Colt 70 series. Absolutely love them.

Full size is customized by Woods, and the other is my stock combat commander. I'm still contemplated whether I should customize this one.

Let me see if I can find and post a photo of my steve woods .45.

i prefer the springfield armory 1911's. they used to be less expensive (not any more)

colt's has gone south with their political stance, and i'm amazed they are still in business.

Mine is my Colt Model 1911. It was made in 1920, the era of the Flapper and spats. My mother was 8 years old. When I hold this weapon, I feel the history of its 82 years. When I fire it, I feel the exact same sensation as the first owner did.
The trigger pull can only be described as "Sweet", which for some reason, drives my wife crazy when I say it. It is a commercial model which I bought at a (real) gunshow in Lakeland, Fla. in the mid '70s. I traded a 12 Ga. Mossberg semi-auto and some cash for it. It was customized professionally by its former owner, and nothing has been changed on it since that day.
It make me feel all warm & fuzzy.

My favorite model is the Colt M1911A1 army models. Mostly because of all the history behind them. Plus they are really nice guns. I have one and like it a lot, it's my favorite handgun.

My AMT is also the first 1911 I owned. It also happens to be the first gun I ever shot. My cousin sold it to me when he needed some money and now I won't sell it back.;)
