View Full Version : FR-8 finish question?

I just recieved an FR-8 last week and the finish on the metal is 90-95%. However, the wood, although having very few dings, appears to have little to no finish. there is some redish-brown looking finish on the left side of the butt stock but is otherwise bare wood. I would like to remedy this. Can anyone tell me what type of finish is suppose to be on these guns. Any links or info on refinishing will be greatly appreciated.

Mine seems to have an oil finish, very smooth walnut and light. BLO will work good I think or Tung, but that may make the wood darker.

Mine appears to be bare wood with an oil finish and I like it that way.I would not stain the rifle.Just lemon oil it.They are fine the way they are.:D

1. One has a reddish brown finish and the other is a lighter walnut color.:p

Mine has a very, very, very dark brown finish on her...dont know what kind of wood or the particulars, I'm just getting into this refinishing bussiness
