I know alot of you here are in the guard/reserves or even active and may be deployed soon to an area full of land mines. I would suggest giving these boots a try. www.bfrboots.com
I ordered a pair on wednessday they arrived on monday. I wore them to work today. Let me say flat out this is the only body armor that I have ever worn that did not constantly remind me that I was wearing body armor. The boots are suitable for everyday wear. They are VERY comfortable. Its is not at all what I expected. I expected heavy boots with no flex. Fortunately I got boots that I can readily wear everyday, best described as Really nice boots, well made, nice leather, rubber sole. Its a natural rubber sole, it will leave black marks. The sole does show minor mold marks. I typically wear a size 12 wide, the size 12 fit very well and not too tight. I will give futher updates, but I wanted to give you guys advanced notice. As things heat up, it will become much more difficult for individuals to obtain these boots. The cost was $198 and they paid for air shipment. I suggest you order the boots over the internet, calling the tollfree number will redirect you to an office in Sinagpore. Its just easier to do it over the net.
I am not affiliated with the company in anyway shape or form.
You can find all the details at www.bfrboots.com .

Call me a nay-sayer….but I don't buy that these boots will deflect a blast and shrapnel from a anti-personnel mine. I don't know if you ever saw a anti-personnel land mine go off, or not, but it's equivalent to a hand grenade + going off DIRECTLY underneath you, and besides the blast and fragments tearing into you foot, from a few inches .it also does some serious damage to your legs, groin. So I don't believe that these boots will serve no other puropse, but to put a false sense of security to the wearer....the only real protection against land mine, is simple.... don't step on them.

You can pretty much say that about any type of body armor in combat, but it does not negate the usefullness of that body armor.

me thinks that i could buy a nice pair of danners for that amount of cash.
those boots are advertised as "resistant", and migh help, and if i was going to the combat zone i would probably buy a pair, you just never know. but land mines vary quite a bit in blast and effect, so there is probably a lot fine print associated with those booties.
probably buy one of those land mine resistant nut protectors too, and a lucky rabbits foot, and a blessing from the medicine man, and ...
but probably mostly scared shitless.

at least flak vest and kevlar helmets will stop or at least slow down, low velocity small sharpnel.....but a boot directly underneath a land mine that goes off full force....I don't believe it will help you any there.
