Hello,

I need some help with a project I am working on. If you have read my other posts, then you know I am a conservative pro-Second Amendment public high school teacher. I was born in 55 and grew up in the 60s and 70s. When I tell my students about some of the things said by our "stars," they just don't believe me. Example, Jane Fonda and her statement about communism or the radicalism of former Beatle John Lennon. They refuse to believe. In addition, I have seen a lot of older celebrities on television sounding all hairy chested about fighting terrorism and supporting our men in uniform. I recall they had other things to say back in the 60s and 70s.

This is how you could help. I am looking fpr quotations by stars/celebrities about our military and men in uniform from the 60s and 70s. I am not so much interested in anti-war statements (Vietnam) as I am interested in what they said about our Armed Services and men who were serving. My young students just don't believe that our servicemen were treated like dogsh*# when they came back from Vietnam. I always have to have something, in writing, I can place in their hands to show them. And by the way, our public school textbooks don't seem to make much mention about the stars/celebrities statements against our soldiers and support of North Vietnam either. I wonder why......................

Any help would be greatly appreciated and used in a classroom. That's right, you would be helping to teach our youth!

(Many of our youth think life sucks when their cell phone dies, mom didn't buy them a new car for their birthday, and this teacher, who likes the cold, has the air on in the room. But, when I read to them accounts of what young men went through in Vietnam, it gets very quiet in the room).
