Need some help with an ID/value

Ok - I have a Mod 98 - Eagle holding a swastica stamped on the barrel and reciever - reciever is stamped "dou" with a "43" under it -barrel has "A S dou" SN= 2823 with a "u" underneath it. Every # I could find on it matches (those Germans stamped EVERYTHING) It has a hooded front sigh, leather sling that goes through the stock, a meatal disk that goes through the stock, and a cleaning rod.

The only drawback to yhe rifle is the bore - it looks like all the rifleing is intact, but the bore is kinda dark and "grainy" looking.

Bluing is about 80%, but no pitting.

I also have a bayonet with scabbord for it.

I'm not sure what I am going to do with this rifle - I'll have a gunsmith go over it before I shoot it, but I just wanted to know what I have.

Well it may not be mint but I'd bet it's going to be worth close to $600 give or take $50 bucks. Any importers marks on the barrel anywhere? That will help it's value. Sounds like it could be a GI bring back.:cool:

The metal thingie in the stock that has the hole in it is for taking the firing pin out of the bolt head. See my instructions in the Turk forum on Mauser Bolt disassembly as posted by Redstar.

No importer's marks that I could find.

I think it is a bringback - wow worth that much.

Maybe I won't shoot it:p
