I would like to know if it is legal to put a flash suppressor on a post ban ak, the reason i'm asking is i keep hearing about other's who do it and i would also like to know if it's legal to take a post ban ak with a thumb hole stock and modify it so it has a pistol grip, even though the butt stock and grip are still connected at the top, is this ok to do. The stock it self is still factory and the whole thing is still one peice so would this be a problem.

Flash suppressor NO; MUZZLE BRAKE YES if it is sliver soidered or tack weilded. It does not function as grenade launcher or flash suppressor.
section921(a)(30)(B)of the Gun Control Act:
(ii) a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon;
cutting the thumbhole out would result in a violation
The law dosn't say anything about how thick the part going from grip to stock has to be.

Does someone make post-ban muzzle brakes that just slide onto the barrel to be welded?
I've seen threaded brakes but not non-threaded brakes.

There are many manufacturers of "pin-on" muzzle breaks. Though they refer to them as "pin-on" be prepared to spend about 30 minutes fitting them correctly. A good place to find them are at "Cheaper than dirt" which I believe is www.ctd.com?
