Does anybody know what is the legal waiting period when buying an AK in Maryland.
I have just recently bought the MAADI, and dealer told me 8 days, and to make sure I should make it 10?!
I heard that there should be an instant check, or max 5 days, after 5 days they must release the weapon no matter what. Any suggestions, thoughts?

Here in FLA you have to wait 7 days to pick up your * HANDGUN *. It's hard to believe some places have LONGER waiting peroids on rifles! That aint right.
Don't buy from a dealer no waiting and no paperwork that way. It won't be long befor you are not able to do this any more.
I guess Texas has it great. No wait on ANY rifle, and as for handguns, the NICS can take as little as 3 minutes to 5 days. I was able to purchase two handguns and walk out of a dealers store within 5 minutes due to NICS.

Here in the PRC (People's Repulic of California), state law requires a 10 day waiting period to purchase either a handgun or a rifle. This includes all firearms purchased from an FFL Dealer, from a private party, at a gun show or by mail-order. Handgun purchases required that you prove you have passed a Basic Firearms Safety Course, unless you have an exception such as you are in Law Enforcement, served in the military, or have a hunting licence. A rifle purchase does not require that. If you transfer your gun to your brother -- 10 day waiting period. If you take your gun to a gunsmith to work on, an FFL approved dealer has to transfer the weapon to him, and then transfer it back to you when he is done with it. Now, how much did you say I can expect to pay for a new home in San Antonio?

Roman,
I would recommend that you buy your long guns out-of-state. No waiting period and better prices. An extra hour or two of driving beats waiting a week, in my opinion. When I was a Maryland resident, I bought all my rifles and shotguns out-of-state. It wasn't a hassle because I probably spent most of my time out-of-state anyway. I also wouldn't be comfortable with the MD State Police having the paperwork considering what an ardent anti-gunner their superintendent is.
Roman, Surly's right about buying them out of state. Virginia is a start.
When I was stationed in Maryland (not to long ago), I also purchased a Maadi from a Dealer in Shotgun News and had it delivered to a Maryland gun store.
At that time, one could only purchase ONE handgun or "military assult wep" in ONE MOnth! And of course, I had to wait on the "background check" and I was Active Duty at that time!
I later found out that this gun store was "media minded" in the "evil" looks of a "assult wep" when it arrived and I went to go pick it up. The owner said to me when I was inspected it for damage,scratches,etc.."Now don't go rob a bank or something", I didn't even want to justify that answer to him I was so upset.
Anycase, here in the Lone Star (TX), obviously is not nearly that bad. Thank goodness. Wouldn't like to have the PRC and other Gun control states to taint this one or other "safe haven" states. CZ sends.
God Bless Texas! and ssssshhhhhh! Or we'll have a mass migration to Texas! hehe...

Amen to that TKK, I'm proud I from and reside in a state like Texas. Anyway, there are some other "havens". Arizona and Florida are probably the few out there that are good. Don't hear too much about Alaska's gun laws though. Ironic that the best gun states also have the least amount of crime and taxes?????
Explain that to the PRC congress men.
These are my opinions. CZ sends.
Hey guy's, here in Texas is a good place to live but we stiil might have ti wait when buying a gun, it all depends on that call they make to the fbi, if your name clear's you can leave with your new toy but if it don't clear which sometimes it don't, then you might have to wait up to 3 or 5 day's, and befor Nov of 98 there was only a waiting period on handgun's , now we have this so called brady crap on all weapon's minus black powder and air rifle's.

Thank you guys for you information. It has been 10 days now and I am not sure if I get my gut today. I am sure if it was a Vacuum cleaner, I could go ballistic on that shop, but since the weaponry is very "bad" issue, I don't have any authority to even raise my voice at them. What a shity state Maryland is!!! Next time I definitely will use an out-of-state dealer FFL.
Thanks again.

As far as Kalifornia 10 day waiting period is concerned its true However, There is no FFL transfer required to have a gunsmith work on your gun.
At least I have had mine reworked and never had to do a ransfer. FYI
thanks
Hello,
Got to love Nevada, Never a waiting period.
The new instant rip-off only takes two minutes!

With this NIC's deal in place, the only concerns I have heard about a "waiting" period (at least for Texas) has been when purchasing from a gunshow. At the last gunshow, the dealers (like usual) are required to call in all firearms purchasee's to pass the NICs. Unfortunately, due to the Littleton Massacre, there was an almost 90% hold on all verifications for up to 3 days at one booth I was at. So whether you are legal or not, it didn't matter.. Sneaky legislation like that burns my ass! When someone obey's the laws and has no record and is still forced to wait because of "political correctness" that really sucks. Now due to the damned hold, folks selling from Oklahoma are forced to ship to an FFL, another 25 dollar (at least) fee that was prevously unnecessary, because they couldn't release the weapon the day of the gunshow. And they wonder why we cache?

We've got it good in Kentucky for now. Before the Brady law, we had cash and carry handguns from dealers. Glad I got to practice that freedom once. The CCW here requires a $75 class fee and 20 rounds of ammo with your handgun (gotta qualify), a background check, and $60 for a 3 year permit. The CCW covers all weapons - knives, firearms, martial arts weapons... We've got open carry too. I used open carry once. It's not much fun as people tend to shy away from you once they see your gun. Concealed carry is business as usual...

Here in the FREE STATE of INDIANA, $25.00 gets you a CCW to carry anything, just about anywhere. Then you go buy your GUN(S) without a check cause you been cleared allready. So picture this guys, Want Gun? (A K to UZI) Step #1 SAVE MONEY, Step #2 BUY GUN, Step #3 GO HOME, Theres more than corn in Indiana, like Texas, Nevada, Arizona, theres FREEDOM grown here. I feel sorry for the rest of you.

I have to concur, the states where law-abiding gun-owners and enthusiasts are placed in such an unreasonable bureaucratic maze or outright hamstringing of your Second Amendment rights, you have my sympathies. I live in GA, which is as gun-friendly as Texas and has absolutely no waiting periods, NICS check system, CCW that preclude NICS, and so forth. I truly feel for you that live in such socially-engineered environs like Kalifornia and MA. I can only urge you to get out of these places and come to where common sense still has some sway on the government. GA ain't perfect, but gun-owners here are the overwhelming majority... Trade your earthquakes for the occassional tornado.

Like i've said before, we need to show our polititian's alittle love, right before we kick the living dog s--t out of them tell them you are only doing it because you want them to grow up to be good little boy's and girl's and not a bunch of lieing cheating thief's with control problem's. Why run to another state when you can fight in the one your in. That's the whole problem we are all running and they are taking over as quick as we go.Stand up and start kicking the dog s--t out of them and maybe they will think twice about taking our right's. If i wanted to be a dam commie i would move to china but my father and granfather fought for this country to keep it free and i'm not going to sit on my but and watch a bunch of draft dodging prick's tell me what i can and can't do.
Hello zero,
I fully agree with what you are saying.
We must stand up and be heard and we must do it together!
I am a Cali native that has moved out state years ago, before it turned sour. Almost all of my family still lives in the Bay Area and they are so disgusted with their elected officals that some of them are also thinking of getting out.
My Father carried a BAR and fought against the Nazi's to preserve our way of life and it saddens him to see people such as Klinton running HIS country.
I just got a reply from my Senator regarding his recent Senate vote. He may be anti gun but at least he knows that I have a voice and it must be heard.
To all the hunters out there (including myself) you can't just sit back and say that they won't ever come after my guns! They will! We must remember that the Second Amendment has nothing to do with hunting and all to do with our history and future.
I gave six years to our military and I belive that all Americans should serve but with a draft dodger in the White House that will never happen.
It does frustrate me to see all the bleeding hearts trying to make America safer and trying to save our kids from themselves.
Leave us alone and we will do fine. Start creating laws that deal with our problems that we have created, not more laws that only effect the honest American.
I have a Sister that moved to Australia and she saw how they disarmed her family in a second. But this is not down under and we have a right to bear arms so let's start writing those letters and using the internet to contact our leaders in D.C. Regester to vote and then go vote.
Take care, OUT
