How Many Parts Does It Take?

Hello. Can anyone that has full knowledge of the law regarding how many parts must be made in the US before the thumbhole stock can be removed and a standard configuration of pistol grip and buttstock can be added? In other words, how many parts must be US made in a sporter AK before you can legally swap out the thumbhole for a standard AK stockset?
