View Full Version : barrel threads on post ban??
I am a visually disabled person who asked a question on the general discussion board. Does a legal post-ban MAK-90 have exposed barrel threads on it? I bought this new in '95. All the barrel has is threads at the end. No flash hider or comphensator.

I have an MAK-90,and unless your barrel has been changed it does not have threads. It has something that looks like threads but they are not. Someone told me that they once were threads but were milled of to be legal for import. If you want a compensator or a flash hider you must get a pin on,thread adapter, or a new barrel with threads. Flash hiders are illegal and so is a compensator that is not affixed to the barrel. But who cares about details do what you think you can get away with.
The first MAK-90's imported had threaded barrels. I have one of these rifles that has 3lines stamped through all import/model numbers and restamped MAK-90 with new import stamps. It came with a muzzle nut spot welded on. Check your front sight for signs of the spot welds.

I saw a guy at the range with a
tumbhole folder Chinese Mak-90,
barrel had threads cut through to lok
like a waffle pattern. He tried a
slant comp and low and behold it
worked. I told him to get what he
liked best and have a gunsmith silver
solder it on permanently, but you
never know what you'll see on
barrells. some had threads ground
off, but last two or three still
visable. go figure.
