Good grief, these guys are killing me with their ammo! I just ordered two cases of the brass cased 7.62 x 39 on strippers. I hate reloading stripper clips, so this probably saves me the cost of the ammo in time saved. :D

Better get some while the gettins good.

I suppose this stuff is corrosive judging by some of the Yugo SKS rifles I've seen.

They also have a good deal on 8mm. I'm not sure if that will show in this pic.

I've got some of the 54R can't wait to try it! It's great looking stuff, 15 rounds to the box. Typical Yugoslav orange looking lacquer on the primers. Did a magnet test it's like most Yugo ammo there isn't any steel jackets. YOu guys that need steel free ammo to shoot on a range take note this stuff is all copper lead and brass, no steel! It's absolutely brite and shiny, looks like it was made last week!

Hey Shuetz, how about a quick 'primer' on the two primer types. I always get them confused.

Between berdan and boxer, which is the one that's harder to reload? Is it boxer or berdan? I think one of the primer types are hard to get out of the empty shell. I'm just wondering if it might be worth reloading this brass.

Also which primer type tends to be the corrosive type? berdan? I've read this alot of times but for some reason I can't keep them straight in my mind.

Sounds like Skip referenced his post that has the photos of primers.

Boxer is the US standard. Berdan is the Euro standard if not the standard for the rest of the world.

On which can be corrosive, both can be the type isn't what makes it corrosive. The priming element composition is what makes a primer corrosive. US primers in military ammo are corrosive until about 1950 with the exception of .30 carbine ammo. It never was made with corrosive primers.

Do you know the bullet weight on the 54R? I asked AIM - but they only THOUGHT it was 180 grain.... too heavy for a Dragunov or ROMAK3, but fine for a Mosin....

No, I don't know the bullet weight yet. I'll have to use my kenitic bullet puller but that's over at the store and I probably won't go over there until Wednesday.
