I just got my new AK and have heard numerous things about what kind of mags I can LEGALLY use. I heard from one dealer that the gun has to have a certain number of US parts to accept hi cap mags. This gun is Romanian military surplus from what I was told and would therefor most likely have 0 US parts. The owner of the shop I bought the rifle at said the other guy was full of it and it was a lie to get me to spend the $400 more for a pre-ban Maddi. Will someone please tell me the truth!

Put a US muzzle brake on it. Else I believe you'll need to use some US mag parts.

If it can except Hi-cap mags then it was imported before the 94 crime bill which means you can legally use hi-cap mags. The crime bill however only regulated importing of hi-cap mags and domestic production of hi-cap mags. You can use hi-cap mags if the gun can take them, if you bought one of those single stack 10 round AK's well your screwed. Basically if it takes them then it is legal, but if it does not you might want to sell it and get one that does.
