New to the list, and thought I would ask another one of those "Is this legal?" questions.

I bought 2 MAK 90s about 4 years ago. They both have wood thumbhole stocks. They also have a pin under the mag release which prevents any high capacity magazine from being inserted. Only the 5 round mags that came with the gun, which have a groove machined into them will fit. The groove fits over the pin thus allowing the mag to be seated and the mag release to hold it in place.

The MAKs do not have a threaded barrel, nor a flashider, bayonet lug, grenade launcher, and will not accomodate a high capcity magazine.

Now, my question(s)......

1. Could the pin be driven out and a high capacity mag be used legally as long as I kept the thumbhole stock?

2. As long as I stuck with the 5 round mags only, and did not remove the blocking pin could I put a pistol grip stock on one of them?

1-Yes, no law aganist it.
2- No, not unless you put a US parts kit on it.
