He just has to have the gun sent to an FFL in NC. They'll do the transfer. Mine charges $30. He can give it to you, if you are standing in NC. You can then take it back to CA with you, if that particular gun is legal in CA. There you will need to register it.

If you aren't physically standing in NC, he'll have to ship it to you FFL to FFL. Might as well have the original store send it straight to you.

There is no paperwork on doing person to person transfers in NC yet.

Jake,

If the gun is "pre-ban" and it was not registered in CA before the cut-off date (some time before 2/92) then it can not be brought into CA. If it's "post-ban" then it's probably ok. Check with a honest FFL dealer in your area. BTW i'm in CA and went through the same thing a short while back!
Good luck!

Jake,

SLR-95's are fairly common. There were some at the last gunshow I went too. They run $600 to $800 in CA. Just look around in your area, you should be able to find one.
Good luck!

I don't understand why you don't just buy direct from Tennessee Guns. Have your dealer send his FFL plus your money order to them and they should send it right to your dealer. Also UPS will ship it to you but not handguns unless express mailed, make sure you insure it. You don't have to go through your friend on this one but future mag purchases you may.

I don't see why since it is not 1/1/00 but of course I can understand thier prejudice. Kali. is one of the maine reasons we have all these gun control laws since they always seem to start them. They even have laws against militias but yet that violates the first and second amendment for freedom of speech, peaceful assembly and right to bare arms. funny how the PRK can actually think it can pass laws that violate the constitution but it does since the people let it, course half of them don't speak enough english to actually read the constitution. I just feel sorry for the few real patriot Americans surrounded by all the liberal commies out there.

That is sad that tenn guns wont sell to kali. Hell they want to sell as many ak`s as they can. Kali is starving for them, this could be a gold mine for this company.IDIOT`S.

These are the new high cap ak`s.Everything is legal on it. Full stock, pistol grip, takes "ALL" high cap mags. These are not the single or double stack crap out there now.

Jake,
You said the wording on Tennessee guns said "pre-ban STYLE". I'm betting they're not pre-ban, in fact I can almost guarantee it. By "pre-ban style", I think they mean pistol grip. If they were pre-ban, they would be going for much higher prices and have bayonet lugs and threaded barrels. If that's what you want, I say go thru your friend in NC! You can shop around first, but if worse comes to worse, this is a viable option.

The ad in there catalog say`s "PRE BAN STYLE" so hopefully that clears that up.

Modeled after pre-bans, not actual pre-bans.

Jake,
If you ship a rifle from NC to CA you have to ship FFL to FFL. If your friend just puts it in a box and sends it to you and someone discovers it, you and your friend will be in big trouble! Have Tennessee Guns sell the gun to your friend and ship it to him in NC(FFL to FFL). Then, buy the gun from your friend and have him ship it to you (FFL to FFL). FFL transfers should cost you about $75.....its worth it!

If your friend was going to visit you anytime soon he could bring it with him or ship it to himself at your address. Of course you couldn't take possession of it until he got there to open it.

Are there any "special" limitations for personally transportating a weapon across state lines by air? By vehicle?

By air: It has to be in a locked case and checked at the ticket counter. You may have to show it is unloaded.

By car: It varies from state to state, county to county, city to city. Best advice is to put it in a locked case in the trunk..unloaded of course. The problem is that some places outlaw certain guns. Make sure if it's an AK, the state/city you are driving through doesn't outlaw them.
