I'm not asking this as a challenge , but as a genuine question .
Why use it when you can buy modern Wolf or Barnaul ammo that's not corrosive ?
Does the SKS function better with the brass cased corrosive ammo ?
Let me know because I want to stock up on 7.62 x 39 for my 6 SKS's and my 2 SAR - 1 Romanians:D :D
I know the AK's will take anything without a hitch , but was wondering what the SKS's prefer.

To my knowlege most of the 7.62x39 currently available is not corrosive. The AK and SKS were originally designed with steel case ammo in mind.

Question: Why shoot corrosive 7.62 x 39 ?

Answer: Because my AK has a chrome lined barrel ;)

It's miltary spec, and it's on strippers! Plus AK's and most SKS are chrome lined.

I'm interested to see if it's any more accurate than Wolf, I don't expect to see a big difference. My major reason was the preloaded strippers.

I wouldn't take the words NON CORROSIVE on Wolf or Barnaul ammo...or for any ammo comming out of any east block shit hole countries.

treat everything as corrosive, besides it's not a biggie to neutrilize the salts....WINDEX

I have never found Wolf to be corrosive. If it is, it is so incredibly mild that it is impossible to tell it from any American brand of ammo.

When you start comparing it to the Chinese stuff, you can really see the difference. Shoot a gun with Chinese corrosive in damp, moist conditions and you can almost watch the gun start to rust.

Also, I belive that there's still at least a little bit of the old AP stuff floating around some gun shows that has "hidden charms" of its own. Might make a little extra barrel scrubbing now and then worth your trouble...:D

I would NEVER shoot corrosive ammo though a Semi-Auto.There are just too many places for the residue to travel. It would be a big pain to coat the whole inside of the rifle in ammonia just to be safe and thats what I would do.I only shoot non corrosive in mine.I do shoot corrosive ammo in bolt actions. As far as wolf and barnul both the HP and FMJ variety shoot/function fine in my Yugo SKS and SAR.I have no problems with ethier.I have left an AK uncleaned for a few weeks once because I forgot with no after effects with Wolf.

Years ago before I knew anybetter, I shot abunch of corrosive ammo in a mini 30, and didn't clean it. After about a month I went to get the rifle out of the closet. And guess what. that thing was rusted shut. it took alot of cleaning and convincing to get it to work again. I wouldn't shoot that stuff again.
