Steel core ammo is legal for Private use, possesion, and sale. FFL dealers cannot sell Steel core ammo.

Steel core ammo has a steel core projectile instead of a lead core projectile. It usually sells for $6.00 to 9.00 per 20 round box.

Most of Chinese origin, copper washed stamped with year and various # like year and factory like 86/31, E. German in O.D. Green lacquered shells again marked by 69/01,
The projectiles have a steel insert in the bullet, like a pin, and slice through things like a hot knife through butter, However, alll new factory ammo I have tested against steel core, ( RUSSIAN/ E. German, Romanian, Bulgarian, Chinese ) Lead core no penetrator work almost as well, good enough in my book! alas, I got mine when it was 99 cents a box, and we would shoot 300-400 rds a week! I cannot put a price on it, I just think its top of the line myself, but all 7.62x39 SHOULD do the job, if it won't, buddy your in deep kimchi! Check gunshows it pops up reguardless of who sells it, but my collegue is right Dealers cannot sell it commercialy, But a private individual can.....
