1. The 98 is the most copied style rifle in existence IMO. There is a Pic of the Week done in awhile back on them. The varients are many, from the original K98 to the M-48 Yugo, Persian, Swedish, Czech, etc, etc.

2. The original K-98's of Germany are a bit pricier but a must for any collection. I would start with a Turk from SOG for less the $50.00 and get your feet wet then move on to some other varients. With a K-98 German as the goal.

Generalissimo Mauser's are Chinese copies of the German M98. I think they are of questionable quality and unsafe to shoot.

1. Boy did I misunderstand that question. Sorry. After I read the thread I realized you were asking about a particular type of mauser, not mausers in general.

2. Im not senile, where am I ?

Neil, not a problem. I am debating about ordering some of these and I was to at least be able to shoot them once in a blue moon. Wall hangers are no fun. Hmmmm...I wonder if the actions are strong enough for a rebarreling? I shouldv'e ordered those $1.00 barrels to have on hand when I was placing my order with Century.
