I recently bought Russian ammo for very good price. It says it is non-corrosive on the box, but I don't know if I should trust it.
I was thinking of maybe paying a little more and get Sellier & Bellot or some better quality ammo.
Also, when I clean my rifle, how much attention should I pay to the gas connector?

As far as the ammo...I just ordered some S & B so I hope its good. You can use what you bought but make sure you THOUROUGHLY clean the barrel and receiver. As far as the gas tube...I dont think you have to get crazy....

Don't know the brand but a guy at my local gun shop told me the russian ammo he got was corrosive. The box said non-corrosive. He diden't clean the rifle until the next day and was far less than happy.

AK Shooters:

Don't sweat the corrosive/non-corrosive ammo issue. As many sad AK owners have found to be true, the labeling on the box is not always accurate. Perhaps the powder is not corrosive, but the primer is. Never trust the labeling on any Eastern European/Former Soviet Bloc ammo box. If you have a thousand rounds of Russian and you think it may be corrosive, enjoy shooting it anyway. Simply make sure to leave time at the end of the day, after shooting, to CLEAN THE GUN.
Your hard-chromed bore AK was designed to shoot the stuff all day, every day, with minimal maintenance. Just treat all Eastern Bloc ammo with the same respect, or lack thereof, and CLEAN THE GUN when you're DONE.
And then you and your AK will live happily ever after.

Rev is right. Clean the gun after shooting.
