How bout some advice? The hole that my front sight pin screws into seems to be threaded crooked, or so it looks. When sighting my Maadi in, I noticed that the front sight pin was slightly crooked, and I at first thought it was the light.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Do I need to take it to a gunsmith? How much will it cost?

Dave

I too discoverd the same problem today. For me though I discovered it's not the screw but the horizontal large round pin that passes through the bar under the front sites. this it what the screw, screws into and mine is lose. I was about to go crazy trying to figure out why I couldn't hit the target. Apparently I'd fire and the pin would keep shifting from side to side. How to you tighten this thing up?

DavMc,replace the defective part with a new one. Remove sight pin and drive the front sight adjustment block out with a punch and drive the new one in.
Sweep, drive the front sight adjustment block out with a punch. The use a small chisel or center punch to peen the area where it contacts the front sight on each end. Then drive it back in place.

Don't quite get you. That pin is so lose that if I unscrewed the front sight from it it'll just fall out. Don't need a punch. Not understanding what you're telling me to do with the chisel.

Ok remove front sight post and let it fall out. Then take a punch/chisel place it on the pin 1/4" from the end of pin and hit it with a hammer. Rotate the pin slightly and repeat till you have gone all the way around it. Then do the other end of the pin the same way. Every time you strike the pin it is displacing the metal makeing a burr which incresses the diameter of the pin. Notice the small amount of metal sticking above the surface of the pin? This is called peening. Try to slide the pin in the front sight if it is too tight, drive it in. Your done and make sure the hole for the sight pin is vertical. If it still slides in easy peen it some more.
The next statement is not meant to demean you or question your intelagence but if you still don't get it. Email me at J.A.FREEMAN@WORLDNET.ATT.NET and I will draw a picture, scan it, and email it to you.

Got it! Thanx alot. I've only had a Glock and a shot gun until recently and I've always been taught not to be banging on the pieces or forcing stuff together. However, I understand completely what your saying now. Thanx for your patience and help.

I have an MISR myself, the front sight is kiltered to the left, however, it seems to be right on the money, windage wise.. I'm afraid if I try to straighten it just to look straight, it'll throw the aim off.
