How does the gas piston attach to the carrier. Does it pin in or screw in, I've seen some in a tapco ad that have threads on them.My norinco mak-90's and my hungarian SA-85M iook like they are pinned in.
Hello JEFF,
The pistons are first screwed in, then they are pinned. It is hard to see the pin because they buff the area out.
Take care, OUT

This post may be a good time to ask a question I have had concerning the gas piston connection to the carrier. There is a very small amount of play between these two components on my AK. If I hold the carrier tight, and move the end of the piston there is maybe a 32 of an inch, or less movement. The connection between the two is tight. I always assumed that this was normal, but it is something I have wondered about.

Scout,
Its perfectly normal. Have seen it on numerous AK's.
