I use a light coat of grease along the rails of my SA-93 instead of oil. Does anyone else use grease for lube instead of oil?
Hello Stokes,
I have been using RIG in all of my weapons for years now. It comes in little white jars.
The stuff is great and only a very small amount is needed.
Take care, OUT in Vegas!

I often use REESE teflon grease, it is intended to be used as hitch and ball grease, but it works pretty good if applied lightly to weapons. The best part a 4 oz jar retails at wally world (in the boat/auto sections) for about 5 dollars, I have enough to pack several weapons away for long term storage.

I use TW25B grease from Kleen-bore or Tetra Grease. Peter Kokalis, Technical Editor of Soldier of Fortune, reave about these two products. This man owns litertally HUNDREDS of firearms.

I use a graphite molly engine bearing grease. It's cheap doesnt fly off when weapon is fired and heats up, and last a long time....

Be sure you get the kind of grease you want. The GI Rifle Grease is not a lubricant. It will give some lubrication, but it's primarily an anti-oxidant. Most products will be marked, but check the markings to ensure that it does what you want it to do.

I read a post somewhere recently that stated to never use any lube/grease on firearms that has grafite in it. Something about it gummimg up after sustained fire?? Just something to check into maybe.

I use a grease that is called Lubri-plate, I read somewhere in a gun mag about how good it was and then I realized that we use the same grease on the AH-64 Helicopters where I work. Needless to say I have used it on the slide of my CZ-75 9mm and also just recently on my AK,,,good stuff ,, thats my 2 cents

I've often used grease on gun parts, mainly the highly stressed bits, locking ramps on pistols, camming surfaces on rifle bolts, ect.
It depends on what I'm planning on doing with a gun what kind of lube I'll use. Guns that I want 'ready' (shotgun by bed) but that I'm not planning on shooting, get grease. Guns that I shoot more often get oil.
Grease is a pain in the pipe cleaner to get off. I know I could use something other than GI rifle grease, but I stocked up at a gun show years ago, and I've still got all those little plastic tubs left... BW
