You know, the french guns are ugly to begin with, but these are really BAD.

Upon initial examination one of the rifles looks like all I need is a follower for the magazine.

The other one is missing the mag assembly altogether, firing pin, bolt body pieces, bayonet, adjustable rear sight sliding "thing-a-ma-giggy" (yes that is a technical term) :)

Both stocks are beyond dirty. Blueing or Parkerizing is very good.

On the bright sight, the 4 "Good condition" MAS 49/56 mags that I ordered are awesome. They are way better then the "excellent condition" from WGA. These look New are are way cheaper.

The M1 Carbine cracked stock for 4.87 is usable. Can't go wrong with that price.

Post some pics if you can. Parts are pretty easy to find, if you need a hand just holler. What letter does the serial number have in it? Also are there any rearsenal stamps on them? And last but not least how are the bores?

LP-

Did you receive that Spanish 1916 Mauser?
Post condition and pics once you receive it okay?
I'm curious to see the deal that I passed up.

Thx,

I just came back from Century with that very idea in head of grabbing one of those RIFLE MAS 36 7.5 FRENCH. So one is a shooter and the other a parts gun. Did you pay the same 29 for both? They're suppose to be missing minor pieces and it sounds like MAS2 is missing major pieces.

Richard:

One of the gun's serial begins with a 2 and the other one begins with FG.

Both bores are dirty, but I can see rifling. Both stocks are ROUGH and dirty.
My SOG's grade 3 turks are in better shape then these.

I know that Sarco had advertised that they have parts and the 3 piece stock in LN-excellent condition.

MAS 1 (top pic) has a matching bolt, but the magazine floorplate and stock are mismatch. The only thing I can see so far is it's only missing the magazine follower.
MAS 2 has the matching stock, but the bolt is not. MAS 2 is missing the bolt components. It only has the bolt body and extractor. It's missing the complete magazine assembly and floorplate, also no bayonet.

BMWGuy:

I emailed him today and he said he dropped it off on friday, so I won't see it till Monday the earliest. I will definately give you a report with pics.

Guinny:

These are considered minor. u-fix-em's are exactly that. You have to like to gamble if you want to go this route. Both bolt bodies are there, so they are considered minor. Occassionally you'll get lucky and get one that doesn't really need much, but Luck wasn't on my side with this order. I could've done a lot worst.

This is MAS #1. I erased the last 2 digits of the serial numbers.

This is MAS #2. You'll notice there is 2 there where the letters would go.

That should in a cursive L in the serial number not a 2. One of the ways to tell pre and post WWII production on these is the serial number. It's only one of the ways tough as the rear sight and other things can come into play.

I might just have to figure out a way to get one of these. What did shipping run?

Shipping came to 12.00 for 2 rifles, 1 M1 carbine stock, 4 MAS49 mags and 1 firing pin.

I guess this can be a "L". I just noticed that on my invoice, Century has it listed as a "Z".

I just ordered the required parts from Sarco. I was going to get slings, but he warned me that were pretty ugly so I passed on them.
So there's no set standards, my first MAS had just regular block letters, and MAS #2 has a cursive letter?

Here's a close-up of MAS #2's serial number, again the last two digits has been erased.

Thanks, I would have never thought a "Q".
