Ok,
I will give SOG some credit. Its all matching and it looks cherry!A ton of acessories.Bore is unfired and blueing is 100%!a few nicks on the stock but thats it.The stock is beautiful and a light blonde color.
My wife bought this for me as a birthday gift so as soon as I made sure it was good to go and all there I was forced to box it up so she could wrap it up and put a pretty bow on it. Now I have to wait till August to play with it.:(Seeing as how my B-Day is at the end of Aug I will be delayed in posting a range report for 2 months.LOL

Have you forgotten about SOG's 72 hour inspectin period? You really need to shoot that rifle in case it needs to be returned. After 3 days you're stuck with it.:D Hey, I'm trying to help you out here.

AK you sure have some will power... I would have slipped that baby out and fired off a few rounds to really test it out and see if it works right :D... now you will have to suffer the two months, but it will be that much sweeter when you get to rip off a few rounds... :jump:

It'll be like that stupid M&M on the commercial. You'll open the box and it will be hoping around on one leg looking for the bathroom.:D In all sincerity though it'll be fine. Action may be a tad stiff and it may not like the Indep ammo but the only potential problem to avoid is making the wife mad when you decide to rip that baby open two months early.

Agreed,
How true. She got on my case already for doing an inspection just to make sure it was all there and in mint condition.:D

AKWARRIOR,
Just be saving your pennies and dimes. A case of ammo costs twice what the gun does. Still, a fine looking weapon and lots of accessories!

I have 100rds of 7.5 brass for this and 308 bullets will work so Ill be reloading for the most part for this rifle. Its a heck of a lot cheaper.:D

I do not know whether this is actually true or not but I have read that you should use only military style primers when reloading for these bad boys because they are notorious for slam firing with thin commercial primers. Maybe someone who has actually tried reloads in these rifles could shed some light.

I bought one of these from SOG last year when they were $229. I think or maybe it was $239. I can't remember. I think they have dropped down to $199. now. Is that what it cost you???
Mine shoots fine with the INDEP ammo. I bought like a couple hundred rounds just so I'd have the brass to reload. Actually I've only shot about 50-60 rounds through it but I've had no failures at all.
If the price drops any more I'm going to have to buy a second one. They are real nice rifles and I think the only reason they are still around at distributors is because they are 7.5 French caliber. People(non-reloaders) afraid they won't be able to buy ammo. I swear I don't know how you can own more than 1 or 2 guns and not reload because it is to expensive to shoot without doing so.

Agreed,
I dont buy a rifle because ammo is readily available.I buy it because it is a piece of history and a joy to own.Now thats not to say I dont want to shoot it.As long as I have a few boxes of ammo for a rare caliber firearm Ill be happy.Yes these are were going for $219 and thats what the wife paid Ill have to ask.I think they went up to $229 again. All I need is to get some 7.5 dies and a cheap press and Im set to reload.

Cool beans dude, SOG came through for me too. I got mine yesterday. I'll post some pics later this weekend. I was a little bit disappointed in the "excellent" rating, but then I was hoping for too much. Its a solid "excellent" though the wood is a bit patchy in color, its the wood itself and not dirt or cosmo. It sweat a lot of cosmo in the few minutes I had it in the sun for pictures, so I'll be cleaning her up. 100% finish on metal, all nice gray parkerizing, overall its a great buy.
Now, I need to find a place online to show me how to strip the thing down so I can clean it up and take care of it (This is my first French rifle). Ideas anyone?
