I've got two turk mausers and neither releases the floorplate when you punch the button underneath. I don't know if it's suppose to drop right off, if you're suppose to push it towards the barrel or away from the barrel. Someone else has surely had this problem. What's the fix?

With my k-98, which should be the same, you push the button and slide the floor plate back toward the trigger... I found that a solid round object works best and as you push the button tilt the rod backwards towards the trigger housing and the floor plate slides right off... (mine is a little hard to do by hand)... Good luck :jump:

Ugh yeah the button on my VZ-24 is a bitch to push in. I usually just use a pen. You push it in and back towards the trigger. I dunno if yours is the same but mine takes a lot of force to release...I usually just leave it shut.

Okay, I've tried that but I'll try it again. At least I have an idea of what it should be doing. Any ideas on unfreezing the metal?

They were designed to be pushed in with a 8mm bullet tip, if it's like a K98k.

I used a pen, It's all frozen up, it's tighter than a bedbug. I may have to take some electricians tape and a punch to it. Any suggestions? I pushed the button all the way down an tried to push it back towards the trigger guard all to no avail

Try spraying some break free in it and let it soak for a while... Be careful, you don't want to bugger up your rifle...:jump:

Exactly! It's got a great finish. Maybe it was rearsenaled with the plate on?

That is possible... I think the best bet would be to find a hard plastic rod and try to depress the button and jimmy the floor plate... This should let you know if the floor plate will come off and the plastic should keep the finish clean... Keep me posted and good luck:jump:

FWIW, my Turk floorplate was so tight I had to push in the pin and whack the floorplate with a hammer and a wooden dowel to get it off. Couldn't get it back on to save my soul. Got to looking and the floorplate was bent slightly over it's length. Laid it on a block of pine and tapped it with a ballpeen until it flattened out. You can use a cloth to cover or a rubber mallet instead. Goes on and off exactly like it's supposed to now. You may also take the barreled action only and pour boiling water into the magazine. This will melt out any old cosmo that could be holding things in place. Wipe dry and spray down with WD-40 and let it soak a bit. Mine wasn't bent very much, hardly noticeable until you looked down the length of it in the light but it sure kept it from working correctly. HTH

. I've got one broken down right now so I'll try that hot water and wd40 on that one. See if it works
