I saw that they have these in AIM's latest flyer. How do these work? Do they clip on in place of the original magazine floorplate or what?

Sounds kinda cool really :)

Yes that's how they work so they really aren't detachable in a practical sense. Once you get it on it should take a punch to compress the floorplate release button and some tugging.

See my post 'Assault Mauser!' for a picture and small review of mine. I think the post is in the Czech/Yugo Mauser section.

REDSTAR, I searched and can't find your post. Where is it?

So do they work good? I think I might get one for my M24...

I'll try to find it and btt.

As far as working good. Mine holds in really well so thats good. I cycled a bunch of rounds thru it and when you load it all the way with 20 rounds the first couple get hung up some times. When I left it at 15-18 rounds that wouldn't happen. I haven't had a chance for a field test yet, but should work as it cycled at home.

I think they're pretty neat. I have mine on a M98. I think they would probably work on a Turk or 24 as well.

Yeah Redstar they should work on a Turk M38 as many of those are converted GEW WW1 rifles. That's what these trench mags were made to fit. LOL!:D

They won't fit an M48 Yugo weapon as the receivers are shorter than a real 98 large ring Mauser.

I didn't know that. I learn something new here everyday. :)

Would it fit an FR-8? With the flash hider and the fake gas-tube it'd really make folks at the range all down the firing line go

:D

Ahhh . . . put down the crack pipe and step away from the keyboard!

But seriously, not a chance IMO!:D

Why won't it fit? (Academic anyway since AIM is out apparently) Is the FR-8 not a converted 8mm reciver? I know the history of the conversions but I can't remember what the original rifles were. 7x57mm's perhaps?

It's not permanant, so what's wrong with putting one on an FR-8? (other than apparently not fitting...) You could tell people it's a "California legal CTME"... :D

LOL...

I dont think it has the same mag floorplate and cutout as a 98 based design, but I could be wrong. I'd have to look and all my weapons are still not unpacked.

If it did fit, I'll get a bipod and a cheesey SKS scope and a no-smith mount and dub it the 7.62 Schyssturm

Just kidding. :D

I just figure that with the FR-8's pseudo-assult rifle looks, the 20 rounder would look real wacky.
