Ahh. When I came home today I had my 20 Round M98 trench mag from AIM waiting for me. $30 for the mag. I swiftly installed it on a CZ98/22 I have and loaded her up to test the function. Cycled great x 2 times, 40 rounds. Two rounds got hung up below the feed line on two occasions but that even happens with the regular mag in there, just had to push the round down and it popped back into position to feed.
Shuetzenman had reported problems with the mag he has not fitting snug, that it gets loose. This one fits great, snug as can be with the exception of a very slight side wobble; not as bad as some AK's I own. To test I held the rifle upside down by the mag and shook it vigorously. It's not going anywhere. Maybe they have improved the design, or it's the particular rifle we each used. Who knows. Anyway this one doesn't have that problem I'm happy to report.
The mag is pretty high quality, sturdy ~1mm thick steel, the spring and follower are of the same quality as any stock Mauser mag.
Kind of pricy, but it sure looks bad ass and will be neat not having to reload four times standard= 1 mag.
I'm pleased. I'm not sure how it will work on other Mauser models, I suppose it will work on most based on the 98 design.
This mag was made in Taiwan and is based on the WWI trench mags for the GEW98.
