1000 questions start here ;)

I field stripped this thing a couple of times using the instructions
that I found for the Colt M1911.
Everything seem to work and disassemble and reassemble just
like the Colt.
I know the magazine well is different in size at least but I would
like to know what other diffrences there are between the Colt 1911
& Para Ordnance P14.45?
What I am really wanting to know is What parts are interchangeable
between the two?
It seems to me that the Colt M1911-A1 is the standard
So what will and what won't work on the Para Ordnance?
Firing pin, extractor, springs, barrels?
hammer, sear & trigger? Main spring & safety's
Grips? ect. ect. ect...

Thanks

If memory serves, the only parts that are not interchangeable with the standard 1911 are the Trigger, grips, and magazine release although I think the Para is a series 80 type gun but i'm not positive. My advise is to check the parts section of Wilson Combats website. They make all of their parts for both guns and list the Para parts specifically if they are not interchangeable.

This is the type of info I need.
I know very little about 1911's but I know I like them.
I bought the Para from a friend that shoots action & USPSA competition.
He needed the cash because he wanted to get the model P16-40.
He is really into it, maybe someday I will try it but for now all I want
is a good shooter and home defence.
Oh and it seems like a cool hobby too

I shot a heavily modified P16-40 for two years when I got into USPSA competition. It was an excellent pistol and I learned alot with it. The "45" will serve you well! Get out and try USPSA, you will love it!!!
